General Updates..
Its been over a month since I have posted (sorry Mahi!), so I guess it is time for some general updates.
Everyone at the house (including Yusuf) is very familiar with the term Bey Blades now, and since my last post we have had several additions to the Bey collection. Isa now has a stadium for it and just convinced Ajee to order a specialty Japanese Bey Blade online.
The Bey blades however, do come in handy. The sentence, "we will take away the Beys" works like a charm when homework needs to be completed, reading needs to be done or when there is a general need for discipline; the Bey collection is also one of Yusuf's favorite things as he knows it is off limits, so whenever Isa is not looking he will go and sit in the stadium, or take all the beyblade parts apart. These toys can also used as a distraction to feed Yusuf.
Feeding Yusuf, is still not an easy task. Yesterday nothing worked so we had to actually feed him in the shower. The lil man has been extremely fond of taking showers since we put him in there with Isa one day just to try it out. Now he will stay under the warm shower for hours (just like big bro) and creates a big scene when we take him out. He is really growing up quickly, and it is hard to believe that last year this time he was just a little new born who had to be bathed in a tiny sink.
Which reminds me - we finally had Yusuf's Birthday party last weekend at a kiddy place called Catch Air (pics are still in camera will post later). It was quite fun! At first I was a little nervous about having it there as I was worried about the adults not being able to enjoy themselves, but I was wrong. It seems like the Auntys (Amma and her friends) had just as much if not more fun then the kids. We got all of them to do the slides and rides, except for the pitch dark one that Amma was too scared to do. She made it all the way up through the hurdles reciting her prayers but then chickened out right at the end when she saw how dark it was. Hasan then decided to go all the way up there and right before he was about to slide down he yelled "Ammmaa"!! and waived to her like a 3 year old while Amma said a short prayer for him..(Oh Allah..please let my son get through this safely - ok..Amma he is not exactly going to War) as he slid down with a big scream.
While Amma was watching her baby, Abba was watching mine. Yusi was with Abba the whole time the least bit interested in the games, party or cake, clueless as to why everyone was going crazy and taking him on slides and ball pitts for their own entertainment. Isa was on his own, too busy with his friends running around everywhere. Ajee was doing a great job managing the logisitics while I socialized with all my special friends and their very special kids.
I must say I had a blast which was a break from the painful week. I somehow managed to get a paper cut in my eye. That has got to be one of the most painful moments of my life. I felt like crying like a baby but had to control myself since I was at work. The eye doctor (who looked like a 15 year old) just gave me antibiotic drops and told me to "tough it out" for the next week or so as there is nothing that can be done for the pain unfortunately. "Tough it Out! -I would like to see you tough it out when it feels like pins and needles are jabbing through your eye every second - Doogie!" I felt like crying again, plus the swelling was so bad that I had actually considered a pirate theme for Yusuf's birthday party. Thanks to my support system at 1826 I got through it and the swelling went down just in time for the party.

"I'd like to see you tough it out Doogie" has got to be the best blog line of all time. That paper cut sounds so painful. But the way you wrote about it (with Doogie!) was so humorous! In fact this entire post shows your great sense of humor - I can't wait to read and see the details about the party. I too can't believe yusi is all grown up now! He is truly getting more and more beautiful by the day. Miss you all. Please keep the posts coming - you're right, I can't bear not being connected to you guys via these updates!
