A Night at 1826!
It is 11:45 P.M at the Saiyed Residence on a Thursday night, I have been trying to put Yusuf down for the last hour or so but have not been able to. Ajee (My husband) finally comes in to the room and I hand over the baby to him to get a break and go down for some water. As I head down the stairs I see Hasan (Ajee's youngest brother) jumping up and down in his sweats infront of his computer in Ajee's Study (which is in fact a dining room). He is actually copying a video of the P-90 X excercise routine, Hasan's new obesession for the month.
Meanwhile, Amma (Ajee's mother) is squatting sweeping (for the 2nd time today) the carpet and the foyer floor with a small hard broom ("tinke wali jharoo - specially imported from Pakistan), and a soft regular broom simultaneously. Abba is waiting for her to finish as he needs help finding something upstairs.
Phuppi (Ajee's paternal aunt) just finished washing the dishes and is now watching an Indian Soap with great concentration. Phuppi is hearing impaired but extremely sharp and reads lips and expressions so well that she understands more than the rest of us. She fills me in on the Drama: Apparently this wretched woman is being kicked out of her extremely wealthy in- laws house as she tricked everyone and married their son, on the contrary her cousin an orphan, who is also the other son's wife is extremely simple and nice loved by all (including Phuppi).
I then see Nani Amma, sitting on her familiar love seat folding clothes. I go and sit next to her and the non-stop chatting begins. She talks about everything from baby deliveries, to hernias to weddings to jewellery etc. Our chat is then interrupted by Hasan showing us how much he sweats by squeezing his head band. A Whole bunch of sweat drips out, Nani Amma shouts and shoos him away to go take a shower.
As the commotion dies down, Nani Amma continues with her monologue and I sit back on Abba's rocking chair counting my blessings for another "normal" night at 1826.

Wait a minute, is this all not normal?
