One Call..That's All!
Last night I got absolutely no sleep at all. Yusuf woke up like every 30 minutes. I don't understand how this 9 month old functions with no sleep. Plus Isa who was also sleeping with me (As Ajee was not there) decided to move on my shoulder in the middle of the night. I remember telling him to move but ofcourse unlike Yusuf he sleeps like a log and can't hear anything. So the whole night I was lying between the two kids with barely enough space to breathe. This morning I had to wake up at 6:30 to get my self and Isa ready to go to school, but all my plans were ruined as Yusuf woke up (as soon as I got up) and didn't want to let go of me. So I had to finally give him to Abba and Amma at around 7:15 but he wailed and wouldn't go to anyone. Amma then had to forcefully take him and distract him. I then hurriedly carried Isa to the bathroom, after which he was running to the bed again and then quickly caught him to brush his teeth. He then needed 5 minutes of rest again so I let him do that while I collected his clothes and then put them on him, forgot his socks, (which Isa then reminded me to get) then put those on him. In the mornings Isa does not want to help he is just pretty much doing us a favor by having his eyes half open (at least most of the time). By the time Isa was ready, we were almost late for school, so I just put on my coat over my Pyjamas, shoved his lunch in the bag (thanks to Abba), handed him a waffle and dropped him off to school. Then came back took a quick shower, got dressed for work, put my breaskfast in a lunch bag (thanks to Abba again) and was finally on my way to work and as always I-85 was a parking lot. The morning as you can tell was not going so well and I was desperately hoping the day would get better.
Right then..the phone buzzed!! It was Ajee from the airport in San Francisco. Instantly my mood took a 180 degree turn, the back ache went away, neck did not seem as stiff and the traffic did not bother me at all..I was actually enjoying sitting there waiting for the cars to move at 2 miles/ hour, as after a whole 5 days I was getting to talk to Ajee in peace (and for once) with no distractions on either side of the call. We spent a good 45 minutes on the phone (we really have not done that in over I don't know.. how many years).. It reminded me of twelve years ago when all we did was talk on the phone for hours, when he was (ironically) in California for an internship. The same delightful feeling came exactly as it did many years ago on the thought of him coming back to Atlanta and seeing him for the first time. A rough morning had suddenly transformed into a peaceful and beautiful day..and that first sight of him between all the travelers made my day just about perfect! :)

So awesome :) You know, when you wrote the Thanksgiving post, I was thinking about the times when Ajee was in California and you used to talk to him for hours on the phone - sometimes from the Woodruff hallway!! You two deserve a vacation...even just a weekend away...you TOTALLY deserve it <3
