A Fun Friend's Visit!

"Arav's teacher says he should be potty trained by now..do you think he is too old...how old was Isa when he was trained??
"No Sangita..its fine..he just turned 2 ...all kids take their own..."
KA-BAM!
"Oh my God Ayesha..let me call you back"
Oh gosh..what did this girl do now?? I hope everything is okay.
She had banged Ankur's (her husband) car into her neighbor's car while she was on the phone with me (the one thing Ankur had advised her not to do was to back the car out while on the phone). I was not very surprised when I found out as it is after all "Sangita" we are talking about. Who is one of the most caring and fun individuals I know but not exactly the most careful when it comes to driving, eating and for that matter even walking.

Sangita and I met in high school. As two young girls, our only worries at that time were Indian Movies and Pakistani Dramas. We used to stand by each other's lockers and discuss Dhoop Kinare and Salman Khan between classes. Then at Georgia Tech we would roam around campus late at night having mid-night snacks, argue over International Business notes, sing Indian Songs at the top of our lungs (not melodiously) and re -enact scenes of Maine Pyar Kiya (as we both have the dialogues memorized) and talk about movies for hours on end. Many years later we can still talk for hours on end but are lucky if we get a few minutes each day. Given our busy schedules, we have decided to talk each day on my way home when she is normally taking Arav to the park. Our conversations are rarely about  movies now (probably because we hardly watch any), instead we discuss our day to day stresses, kids, husbands, birthday parties, baby showers etc.

Yesterday we did not talk on the way home, as she was already at my house when I got there. She has known my family for so many years now that she has just become a part of it. She was sitting with Nani Amma chatting away about how she just wants it to be healthy, while Arav and Isa were playing. As I entered excitedly I just started talking.
"So what did Nani Amma predict"
 "She is saying boy"
"Yeah since she has no weight anywhere I think its a boy! ("Mere ko tu beta hi lagta hai"), remember I predicted that you were having a boy and you were only 3 weeks with Yusuf..."
Nani Amma continued to go on about how her predictions are never wrong.
Seeing Sangita's slight disappointment, I told her she needs to check back with Nani Amma in a few more weeks when she is showing more. She doesn't even look pregnant!! My stomach is bigger then hers..Really!

She fed Arav (who gulped down all his food fairly quickly in fear of Nani Amma and Phuppi), and took him to the bathroom multiple times as she is training him with great dedication. He finally goes in big people bathrooms, before she used to carry his little toddler potty in the car with her (Seriously ..only she would have the patience to do that, I would have sooo used Pull-Ups). She then played delightfully with Yusuf. I pointed out how boys are just so much fun!! It would be so cool to have a fourth one to add to this madness.

She agreed and said she didn't care anymore eitherway, however I know she would love to have a little girl. A little girl that she could spoil rotten with little dresses, bows, Princess Birthday parties and pink everything.
Whatever gender, I know one thing for sure that he/she will be one blessed child Mashallah to have parents like Sangita and Ankur! :)
